Stop the Unstoppable Growth of Fast Food

Well-Being trend can not stop 'them'. They are fast food chains. Nowadays, most of us are seeking healthy and slow food because of problems of fast food. However, strangely, the number of fast food chains has been increasing all over the world. [For example, when it comes to Japanese food service industry, the industry has slimmed down by 18% since 1997. Nevertheless, the fast food companies have always had a surplus.] Should we let these fast food chains grow? No. I think we should stop them from growing, because they have many disadvantages.

Many fast food companies invent many healthy foods with fresh ingredient, but those are as unbalanced nutritionally as ever. In recent year, People are interested in well-being food and mind eating fast food. In order to draw customers again, the fast food companies made healthy menu, such as hamburgers made from rice or chicken fried in good extra-virgin olive oil. Their effort to change their menu is good, but it is not enough. Fast foods are still high in calories and people can hardly get minerals and vitamins from them. In addition, product developers in fast food companies can not change ingredients of soft drinks which people drink with fast food.

The increasing price is another problem. Fast food, especially hamburger, is the food which children like. When I was in elementary school, I could hear the voice of my friends so many times, "Today is my birthday, so let's have a party in McDonald's after school!" However, recently, it is hard to watch children coming to fast food franchise store with their friends. In my opinion, one of the reasons children can not come is the price. Also, the price of new menu to keep up with 'well-being' trend is really high. The reason is because its ingredients are comparatively expensive, but I do not think the price is not reasonable.

In my opinion, the most serious problem of fast food chains is that they make a lot of environmental pollution. The most of fast food franchise provide delivery or take-out services. At this point, the stores usually use single-use containers. Hamburger wrappers and pizza boxes are vinyl coated paper and the tops of soda bottles are plastic. Finally, fast food staffs put all foods in the plastic bags. Only in McDonalds', more than 50 million people all over the world visit and buy hamburgers every single day. Imagine. How much disposable materials are ending up in the trash!

The growth of fast food chains should be controlled. There are so many problems that fast food chains cause, including unbalanced food, the soaring price and environmental pollution. Maybe, it is almost impossible to stop fast food companies from growing. The growth of them seems to be unstoppable. There is one of the first and most important ways to solve many problems fast food chains. The fast food companies themselves should try harder  to make positive effects of their growth than anyone else.
